You Can Save a Life with CPR
Share
Did you know that anyone can save a life?
CPR is a skill anyone can learn. While taking a class and learning full CPR with breaths is great, anyone can do hands-only resuscitation. My guest, Gail Gould has dedicated her days to sharing this life-saving information through online and in-person classes and webinars.

CPR Skills are for everyone
Gail is approachable and makes it clear that the fear of doing it perfectly shouldn't stop someone from trying. Don't worry about breaking ribs or the sternum, and don't stop if you hear a popping sound. Also, never leave the person to get help and always call 911 before doing anything else. These steps may make the difference between life and death.
First Aid is Good, Prevention is Better
We also had a fascinating conversation about how to prevent the need for CPR. Whether avoiding heart disease - obvious causes: weight, smoking; less obvious: loneliness, or avoiding drowning. A chief cause of youth drowning is residential pools. Every home pool needs two gates - one around the yard and one around the pool itself.
It was the lesser thought of risks that caught my attention. Most of us know the biggies. Whether we act on them is another issue, but do we think about the profound effect that loneliness has on our bodies? I don't think so. Or at least not enough. While Gail's training is huge, I hope you will listen to her valuable input on prevention, as well.
