A Song to Reflect

Christmas music has always held deep meaning in my life. Each song evokes a different meaning whether it be joy, nostalgia, or even humor. Some songs, however, strike a deeper chord with me. 

"Happy X-Mas (War is Over) is one of those. It's upbeat tune belies a deeply melancholy question as to what we did over the last year. Not to grow our purses or tend our gardens, but to fix the world ills. Every year, as I sing along, I am cut cold with the depth of the question. 

What have I done?

So next year, in hopes of having a better answer, I want to be the one. The one to step up.
