The Human State

In the age of the internet and politics, I fear we have forgotten the very real world of flesh and tears.

Life is not defined in black and white, and it is not defined by red, and blue.

No more have I seen that than in the last few years with natural disasters.

There are horror stories on both sides, and I shall not repeat them. The words are unworthy of another airing. There is no space for what-aboutisms, for there is no justification.

It is just wrong.

I usually spend my time and my platform space sharing bright words filled with light because that is my superpower. I believe in it. It is not everyoe's tool, and I accept that. But I have had it with hate. Period.

I shared a little on my Facebook, which is rare for me, because I saw a post that was beyond the pale about the floods. And I have seen others about the LA fires. And the Arkansas tornadoes. And the Asheville floods. Red. Blue. Red. Blue.

Can we please put a truce on natural disasters?

No one votes for an epic flood or a town-destroying wildfire. They certainly don't deserve to lose their homes or families.

Cruelty is not a flex or the right response. It doesn't make the argument. It just makes the person look callow and as if they have no other cards to play. It has become too easy and too prevalent in this society. This should be one place where we can set aside the snark, sneers, and politics.

God doesn't take sides. Natural disasters happen in red and blue states, even swing states. The last time I looked, all states were filled with humans.

Do the right thing.

Let's remember our human state and do the right thing.
