Pencil These In - Thrifty Thursday Wins
Share
I love thrifting. It is how I have built a wardrobe that not only makes me smile but also reflects who I am. It has grown and changed as I have evolved, and I am still evolving.
Cheaper than Counseling
During Covid, I realized, however, that thrifting has provided more than fun; it was a form of therapy. Not just the classic "retail therapy". It was the time spent culling and focusing on what it was that made me feel good about something. As a young mom, sometimes it was the only time I took for myself, and I continued the ritual even as they grew.
I love to share my finds and encourage others to thrift. Think of it as a treasure hunt - a way to find what sparks joy, if I may steal the Marie Kondo phrase. It also fights the "fast fashion" trend of pouring more and more cheap clothing into landfills. Finally, it is just a great way to get AMAZING clothes for pennies.
I share some of these goodies on my Lemon8/TikTok. If you would like to follow me there, it's easy. I am @startraci in both places, as well.
Green and Greener
Honestly, despite all the "good for the environment" stuff, it's the last one that I love. I brag about how cheap my outfit is. Thus, I am here with my summer thrift wins.
Have you heard of ThredUp?
If you haven't, you should. I use it often and routinely find tremendous deals. In this case, I found two dynamite pencil skirts for under $20. That would be a deal at Target. But... These two skirts came from Diane von Furstenberg and Q by Alexander McQueen.
Yes, DVF and Q for under a Jackson. 😂😂😂
You can see I am literally jumping for joy.
Go hunting
If you would like to jump too, try thrifting. I love going to the stores, but that isn't for everyone. A great place to start is online. As I mentioned, ThredUp is a favorite. To get you started, I have one of those "Invite a Friend" codes.
If you decide to use it, you get 45% off and free shipping, and I shall get a credit. We both win.
Check it out. Maybe there is a treasure just waiting for you.
