I'll Follow the Sun

And Pluto is still working on it. (I feel you, babe. I feel you.)

All this in my 54 years circling that big light in our solar system.

Another birthday, and as I enter this 55th year, I am filled with many thoughts. Some are fearful, but I know the answers will never be found in the dark.

To quote a young woman who is half my years on earth but has wisdom way beyond me, Amanda Gorman,

“There is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”

I have spent a lot of my life shying away from my light, but over the last couple of years, I have actively sought to be braver in sharing myself. These days, it is a necessity. If you have light, you cannot hide it under a hat (to steal a bit from Dickens), you must share it with the world. We need it.

I know it is easy right now to get lost in the dark, but our very Solar System was built upon light and warmth. Not dark and cold. Remember that. Don't give in to the belief that your power comes from nihilism, or worse, hate. It doesn't. It comes from the source.

So, for me...
