My Mental Health Hero

My Mental Health Hero

May is Mental Health Month and I want to celebrate those who fight the good fight every day. We know that people fighting cancer are warriors but often still question the valiant nature of those fighting anxiety or depression.

Not all wounds leave scars.

Even if we're breaking down
We can find a way to break through

Even if we can't find Heaven
I'll walk through Hell with you
Love, you're not alone

'Cause I'm gonna stand by you
Even if we can't find Heaven
I'm gonna stand by you

This is my warrior.

Here he is 20 years ago, straight out of Boot, where the only enemies sat across oceans. Now he is home safe but battles unseen enemies daily.

Always the airman, he doesnโ€™t give up. And it is hard work and it requires courage; courage equal to danger on a battlefield.

Cheer on these warriors as you would if the word tumor were involved. Mental illness is not a moral issue, it is in the name โ€” โ€œillnessโ€, so letโ€™s support their path to health.
